How to get Windows Vista?

Update (21st October 2006):

Windows Vista Release Candidate 1 (RC1)—the final major pre-release of Windows Vista—is now available through the Customer Preview Program.

The recommended way to get a copy of Windows Vista at the moment is be an MSDN member, or to at least know someone who is an MSDN member.

OR

If you are interested in becoming a beta tester for a program:

1. Sign in at http://beta.microsoft.com with your Microsoft .NET Passport account.

2. When prompted, enter BetaReq as the GuestID, and then go to the Potential Testers program.

OR

Send chocolate to Microsoft.That's right, Adam, an eager Microsoft customer FedEx'd two pounds of inscribed chocolate to Microsoft and was accepted to test Windows Vista!

"May I please test Longhorn Beta 1?"

    i rated it like this because it hasent been tried yet tho im a fan of windows. like all sys it has yet to be tried tho trust microsoft if we didnt they would be out of bizness marty

    Your suggestion is 100 wrong! Knowing a MSDN member will not permit you to obtain any MSDN software since it is strictly licensed to the MSDN member for their use only!     Because you're stupid. The best way to get Windows for most people is to wait and get it with a new computer and if MS stays on schedule what is now called Windows Vista won't even go RTM until some time in the second half of next year.

    You do not get Vista automatically via MSDN (I should know I am a subscriber). The "builds" distributed during the "shows" take some time to hit MSDN

    Waiting for the full retail release is best for most folk and way cheaper than purchasing an MSDN subscription..

    how could you think we should send you 2 pounds of chocolate! you should be the one who send chocolate to us! we are working for you! we pay for windows vista... should we pay for test it too please! try to release it without so many bugs. windows reliability is going down too fast...

    i agree with the last comment said there way too much bugs and again who the hell has the time and money to waste on testing something that isnt finished just to go and buy it again when the final release comes i know for sure im not gonna waste time on that but hey when the final comes out i'll buy it but only just to see the many bugs that this one is gonna have then wait for mac to come out with something of their own to put microsoft to shame!!!!!

    If u dl a torrent u will be screwed pirated copys never work intermitently if at all and as stated pirat ecopys dont offer full effects so do as i do register kiss a lotta ass at MS and hope for the best... As far as sending chocolate well hell id consider sending anything for a copy myself... And also about the mac comment everyone knows mac and apple blows... Windows rule your looking at one now u stare at one at work there all over your home there in your soul windows will always rule the world so go out and get one......

    Make sure you send that chocolate to fat ass Steve Balmer. He's under a lot of stress lately what with Vista's ship date slipping further once again. Man those stockholders are so impatient.
