Windows Mail Spell Check Language is no longer available for Spell Checking
By  Super Admin  | Published  05/6/2007 | Vista Information | Rating:
Windows Mail Spell Check Language is no longer available for Spell Checking

When you run Windows Mail for the first time, you may receive the following error:
This language is no longer available for Spell Checking. Please select another in the Spelling Options Dialogue.

To fix:
1. On Windows Mail main window click Tools
2. Options
3. Spelling
4. Choose a language except English
5. Apply
6. Choose English
7. Apply

Should work now.

Because you have to go to a different screen and shut things down to go there. Also why is English no longer supported automatically when I have purchased this computer in the United States I am appauled that you are catering to other languages when this laptop has been purchased in the USA. I getting tired of everyone else being taken into consideration.

For those of you that DIDN'T find options on your windows vista DO THE CHANGING ON YOUR MAIN SCREEN NOT IN A MESSAGE. Then it works like a charm!!! Go to TOOLS OPTIONS Click on SPELLING tab then change language apply then change back to english. Presto. Your fixed. You don't even have to close your message you were working on. It will still spell check it too!

If you don't have the "options" icon in your mail message tools folder. Find it in the main Windows Mail page and click it; select the spelling tab select any other language and apply it; select English again and apply it over the pre-selected language. Presto should work!

Very straight forward easy to follow instructions....and it worked. Nicely done I wish all "help" was as easy. Given the other comments perhaps you should make it clear which Tools tag should be used.....I did try the one that appears while a message is being composed saw that the Spelling option was not there then went to the "home" mail page found tools and away I went.

It worked for me. You don't use the options button that you see when creating a message. You use the Options button when you are looking at the inbox. That Options button is directly above the Reply button. After you open the Options window choose the Spelling tab. At the bottom you will find the language selection box.

This worked great. Although I mingh mention that if you are trying to do this on an email you are trying to send you will have to minimize that email and perform this quick fix on the first Mail screen that you brought up. Then you can maximize your email and then spell check it. This was great info since I didn't have hours to figure it out. Thanks.

Instructions didn't say to hit "OK" after apply when choosing the different language so I didn't. Then I chose English and did hit "OK" after apply. It worked beautifully.

Works great now. And for all of you saying it doesn't work. You all are doing something wrong. I do not see how because the instructions could not be anymore clear. Re-read how to fix it and it does work.

Comment 41 is dead on. When you first go into your Inbox go to Tools select Options within Tools then select the Spelling tab and change the language to French or whatever and click Apply - I actually clicked OK and re-entered the Spelling popup to change back to English and then clicked Apply but you may be able to just re-select to English and click Apply immediately after the first Apply (of the non-English choice) Many thanks to the person who submitted this superb answer.
