  • Comment #5 (Posted by an unknown user)
'1' is a decimal value AND a hex value(0x00000001). If you don't know what a DWORD is and/or you can't find the key in regedit DO NOT DO THIS!

Steps 1 thru 3 were not a problem but it took a little playing around to finally set the value to 1. (Here's what I did after performing step 2) 1. Left click ONCE (highlight) the word itself "Windows Mail" 2. Up in the menu at the top of that left click "Edit".. go to "New" ( a new window appears to the right) continue over and down to "DWORD (32-bit) Value) click.. Over on the right-side window AT THE BOTTOM a new line should appear with the first words "New Value 1" highlighted. While it's highlighted type in the word NoSplash. Go back up and left click "Edit" again. Scroll to " Modify Binary Data" and click. (FOLLOW THESE NEXT STEPS EXACTLY AS THEY ARE WRITTEN!!!) Then press delete ONCE (and only once) then type the number 01 . Hit "ok". Then perform Step 5 Exit Registry Editor. HOWEVER if you can't complete to the end of step 2 without help (as the person in Comment 5 said) DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS!!! Chances are you will disrupt your entire computer and it will stop working completely. Hope that helps some of you.
